Transportation
Airport
Participants flying in from out of town will most likely arrive at Pearson International, which is about 25 km away from the hotel.
Out-of-town participants are invited to take a cab from Pearson to the hotel. There is a cab stand at the airport that almost always has cars waiting. Please keep your receipt for reimbursement!
Alternatively, participants can take the TTC (public transit) or the GO Train. However, these will take longer and will involve multiple changes of trains (and in some cases, a bus).
Train Station
Participants arriving in Toronto by train will likely arrive at Union Station. From there, getting to the hotel is very easy!
One option is to take the TTC (public transit).
TTC sells passes, but now it also can accept many credit cards as a tap-on, tap-off pass.
Take Line 1 (the Yellow Line) towards Vaughn. Disembark at St. George. The hotel is a short walk from St. George Station.
Alternatively, you can take a taxi. Taxis are ubiquitous around Union Station, and the trip ought to be about fifteen minutes.
In either case, please keep your receipts!
Hotel
The hotel for out-of-town participants is the Kimpton St. George, 280 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M5S 1V8.
The hotel's web site includes a lot of information about nearby attractions.
York University
For out-of-town participants, the easiest way to go from the hotel to York University's Keele campus is by TTC, the public transit. Walk from the hotel to St. George Station and take Line 1 (the yellow line) towards Vaughn. Your stop is York University Station, about 30 minutes all told.
The conference's two locations are:
- Oct 30: Kaneff Tower, 519 (VP of Research Suite)
- Oct 31: York Lanes 280N
Both are a very short walk from the York University TTC station.
Here is a campus map. The subway station is near the centre of the map, Kaneff Tower is building 95, and York Lanes is building 24.
